Kenya is made up of four various geographic regions.

§ Lake Victoria basin (Nyanza)
§ Eastern Highlands (Nyika), N and NE
Kenya has got a total, area of 582,600km2. The highest points being Peak Batian, Mount Kenya with 5,199m (second highest summit in Africa).
The main rivers in Kenya are; River Tana and Galana, both of which rise in the highlands and end in the Indian Ocean.
Administratively, Kenya is divided into 8 Provinces which include; Nyanza, Rift valley, Nairobi, Western, Coastal province, Central, Eastern and North Eastern province.

The large and arid region, which goes up to the east of the Highlands comprises of provinces like the Eastern, Northeastern and part of the Coast province.
Lake Victoria Basin Nyanza Kenya
The Lake Victoria basin is an elevated tract of comparatively flat land in the Southwestern end of the country, in the administrative region corresponding to the Nyanza (Lake in Swahili) and Western provinces.

Rift valley and highlands:
The Rift valley which is a great African fault, is an enormous scar which traverses from North to South via the eastern half of Africa and the middle East.
