Mwanza Tour Tanzania

MWANZA
The city of Mwanza is the major Tanzanian port on Lake Victoria and a major centre of economic importance. The town`s industrial harbour and busy streets make it a prosperous and busy place to explore.
Mwanza is the centre of the Sukuma tribe
The city is the centre of Tanzania`s largest tribe the Wasukuma people. In the Sukuma Museum, about 15km east of Mwanza the culture and traditions of the Wasukuma tribe is shown. There is an excellent drum collection and visitors can watch traditional tribal dances, including the spectacular Bugobogobo, the Sukuma Snake Dance.
Good base for Rubondo and western Serengeti
For visitors Mwanza makes a good base from which to explore nearby Rubondo Island National Park for pleasant day-hikes and bird watching. The proximitiy to the western Serengeti makes it a necessary stop. This part of the park is less busy and you can see the magic of the Serengeti without the parade of safari vehicles and seasonal crowds. A ferry trip and a stay to peaceful Ukerewe Island can also be arranged.
