Cape Buffalo Safari Africa Kenya

The Cape buffalo is an aggressive and angry animal which does not interest one to stay with, and it has got very large horns of over a meter wide. An adult Buffalo can weigh around 700kg and can defend itself from lions and man. Habitat and diseases e.g. Rinderpest, are the main threats to Cape buffalo. This is a large African borine with a dangerous pair of curving thorns which it uses to ward off attackers especially the lions and other predators, as it keeps on forming protective rings around the young ones. These animals, which one can see in national parks in Kenya, on Kenya Wild Safari, are normally not easily irritated, but have a reputation for aggression if disturbed. They have Syncerus caffer as their zoological name. These Buffalos, which look like large black cows, have got powerfully muscled shoulders and haunches and enormous curving horns, rising from the tops of their heads and then sweeping sideways and downwards, before curving up again.

A round 500,000 Cape buffaloes are estimated to be in the wild where they enjoy staying near water in the savannah or in forested areas of Southern and Eastern Africa. They also like open pasture land and swampy areas where they can lie and roll about in mud for water for pleasure.

In herds that consist of a few large males, many females and their young ones, they live.
Adult males can weigh more than 700kg and their horns can span/meter. These older males and young males are believed to live in separate bachelor herds, which herds can range from around a hundred to larger seasonal congregations of thousands. By mooing and bellowing, members of the herd communicate with each other.

Buffalos are believed to be herbivores that enjoy eating a lot of greenery. They eat grass, leaves, and they normally hate eating during daytime when heat is still mush, but rather wait till its night time.
All in all however, though most tourists are attracted by the big Five African Wildlife attractions, Africa is still a home of many exotic animals and has therefore got some other popular attractions in the national parks of Kenya.
These other attractions include; zebras, hippos, wildebeest, giraffe, springbok and many varieties of birds and marine life.
