The Ark Lodge Kenya

The Ark:
It was opened in 1970 and it belongs to Lonrho Hotels. The Ark basically follows the same regime as Treetops, refusal of children below 7 inclusive. In this case, Aberdare country club in the town of Mweiga, is the base hotel. It is 12Km North of Nyeri by the B5 road. The Ark is found deeper in the park at Treetops, near a waterhole at the place where the salient join the main body of the park. The building is made to be similar to the appearance of that, in the architect’s view, Noah’s Ark must have had.

From the Aberdare country club, which is a 40 minute trip, visitors get to the Ark moving along a wooden boardwalk which plies over the forest’s canopy. The hotel is up-to-date and more spaced compared to Treetops, and it is suggested to be the most suitable site in the park to view the bongo. The fact is that, the real possibilities are a bit low.

The ship-construction comprises three decks with several observation lounges and a ground level bunker. There is an outside flat and hard area, smaller and less pleasant than the one at Treetops.
To continue with the difference, the 60 small houses at the Ark are wider and all of them are self-contained.
Both the Ark and Treetops have similar wildlife. Elephant and buffalo almost guaranteed, some occasional rhino, mongooses, waterbucks, bushbucks and warthogs. Some of the less common include giant forest hogs and bongos.

Generally, what has been explained above for Treetops, is the same case with The Ark. State your preferences to choose between the two. If you look for a more romantic experience, that could bring back at least a bit of good smell of past Africa, your place is Treetops. If you seek comfort, then you should go to The Ark.
